This award celebrates excellence in airport management, recognising aerodromes across the UK that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to operational efficiency, passenger experience, and infrastructure development. This award honours airports that have implemented significant improvements over the past 18 months, setting benchmarks in innovation, sustainability, and service quality. This award is open to all licensed aerodromes in the United Kingdom, including state, public, and private airports. Each entry must provide supporting evidence of the airport’s size, nature, and operational achievements. Entry is by a 5-page A4 PDF submission; the judges will be looking for a clear plan and evidence that it is delivering on core objectives, paying particular attention to the criteria listed below.
- Operational Excellence, Innovation & Leadership: Demonstrate how the airport has excelled in operations, innovation, or leadership, including successfully implemented projects that have increased passenger numbers, enhanced technology, or supported airline route expansion.
- Commitment to Customers & Airport Experience: Showcase initiatives focused on delivering a superior passenger experience.
- Infrastructural Improvement: Highlight advancements in key areas such as retail, catering, transit facilities, security processing, baggage handling, and overall cleanliness.
- Management Structures: Provide evidence of effective leadership and operational frameworks.
- Collaboration with Local Authorities: Demonstrate strong partnerships with relevant governmental and regulatory bodies.
- Environmental Initiatives: Detail specific sustainability efforts, such as CO₂ reduction or noise abatement measures.
- Safety Management Processes: Outline safety protocols and any initiatives that enhance the airport’s safety culture.
